Chesterfield Sofa Repair and Restoration — Chicago

A heavily worn Chesterfield came in for a full restoration. Chesterfields are a specific kind of project — the deep buttoning, rolled arms, and traditional leather finish mean a repair has to respect the original construction, not just patch over it.

Before

The Problem

Years of use had left the leather worn through in multiple places, with the surface dulled and inconsistent in color across the piece.

During

The Repair

We repaired the leather throughout and recolored it using a patina-style finish rather than a flat, uniform color. Patina finishing is intentionally uneven — it deepens in some areas and lightens in others — which is what gives Chesterfield leather its character, so we matched that effect rather than smoothing it out.

After

The Result

The finished piece kept the worn-in, classic look Chesterfields are known for, instead of coming back looking artificially new.

After — restored with classic patina finish

This is a finish we recommend specifically for Chesterfield-style furniture — a flat, even recolor would actually work against the design.
