Reupholstery Approach

How Different Materials Influence Reupholstery

Not every type of leather or vinyl is reupholstered in the same way. The right method depends on the material's thickness, flexibility, and how it is attached to the frame.

Leather Reupholstery

Leather reupholstery involves removing old panels, installing new padding, and custom‑cutting fresh leather to fit. We can match the original look or help you choose a new style while preserving the feel and character of real leather.

Vinyl Reupholstery

Vinyl reupholstery focuses on replacing cracked or peeling vinyl with high‑quality, durable material. We match color and texture when possible or update to a new finish based on your preferences.

Frame & Padding Renewal

During reupholstery we evaluate and, if needed, replace sagging foam, springs, webbing, or structural supports. Restoring the frame and cushions ensures the new upholstery sits comfortably and lasts longer.

For delicate or antique pieces, we assess the frame, padding, and material first to determine whether reupholstery, restoration, or another approach makes the most sense.
Important

Reupholstery can transform worn and damaged furniture, but it does not fix every issue. If a frame is broken, severely warped, or if the cost of reupholstery exceeds the value of the piece, we will let you know and may recommend a different solution.

Our Process

Our Reupholstery Process

We evaluate each piece based on the frame, padding and material to choose the right reupholstery approach. This ensures the process is tailored to the furniture’s needs and your desired result.

1

Assessment & Planning

We inspect the frame, springs, padding, and material to confirm that reupholstery is the best option and discuss the desired fabric, leather or vinyl, along with design details.

2

Disassembly & Preparation

The old upholstery is carefully removed, the frame and springs are repaired if needed, and new padding or webbing is installed to restore comfort and support.

3

Cutting & Sewing

We measure, cut and sew the new leather, vinyl or fabric to fit the piece precisely, adding decorative stitching or tufting as desired.

4

Installation & Finishing

The new upholstery is expertly fitted and secured to the frame, ensuring the right tension and neat seams, before a final review to confirm a polished, comfortable result.

FAQ

Reupholstery FAQ

Answers to common questions about leather and vinyl reupholstery.

Reupholstery is usually the right choice when the frame is still solid but the outer material is worn, torn, outdated, or no longer worth patching section by section. It can also make sense when the seating needs a more complete rebuild rather than a surface-level repair.

Yes. Reupholstery gives you the option to update the look of the piece with a different color, texture, or material, depending on the furniture and the direction you want to take it.

Not by itself. Reupholstery focuses on replacing the outer material, but if the furniture also has damaged springs, webbing, padding, or structural issues, those may need to be addressed as part of the project.

Not always. Reupholstery tends to make the most sense for better-quality furniture with a solid frame or for pieces you specifically want to keep. If the furniture is low quality or heavily compromised, replacement may be the better option.
